NAZEIA RANI
Psychotherapist and Supervisor
I am a pluralistic psychotherapist and clinical supervisor working with adults, couples, children and young people in Bristol. I offer a confidential space to talk about the difficulties you might be experiencing and to explore the positive changes you can make. If you want to enhance your quality of life and important relationships, I’ll be happy to meet with you and discuss how counselling or psychotherapy can help you achieve those goals.
My Approach
Pluralistic Counselling and Psychotherapy is based on two key principles:
- There’s no ‘best’ way of doing therapy: different clients need different things at different times.
- If therapists want to find out the best way of helping clients, they should talk to them about it.
This doesn’t mean that clients will always know what they want, or that what clients want is what they need; but that any views that clients have on how best to do therapy should be actively elicited, respected, and engaged with.
I am trained in using a variety of different approaches including Person-Centered, Transactional Analysis, Gestalt, Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and Compassionate Focused Therapy and informed by Psychodynamic theories such as relational dynamics, developmental psychology, and attachment theory. Above all, the focus on developing a trusting relationship between therapist and client is central to my practice.
As a pluralistic psychotherapist, my aim is to work collaboratively with my clients and draw on a range of methods and understandings to try and tailor the therapy to the individual client—based on what they and the client think may be most helpful.
